The KBA sends it deepest sympathy to the family of Ed Shadburne, 91 of Louisville, KY. Ed passed away on Monday, August 7 after a short illness. Born in 1925,  Ed graduated from Louisville Male High School and Centre College. He was a World War II Navy vetean and a member of Springdale Presbyterian Church for over 50 years.

Ed’s career in radio and television broadcasting sales and management spanned Kentucky, Florida and Tennessee. In 1988, he retired from Louisville Productions and was inducted into Louisville Male High School’s Hall of Fame in 1998, and into the Kentucky Journalism Hall of Fame in 2011 and a member of the Kentucky Broadcasters Association Hall of Fame.

Ed’s wife Bettie Sampson Shadburne, preceded Ed in death August 8, 2009. He is survived by his children Susan Call ( Don), Jim Shadburne(Julie) and Bill Shadburne (Jessica), 12 grandchildren and nine great grandchidren, and his brother Bill Shadburne ( Barbara).

Visitation and memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at Springdale Presbyterian Church,7802 Brownsboro Road, Louisville, from 11:00a.m. to 1:00p.m with the memorial service beginning at 1:00p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests gifts to Springdale Presbyterian Church.

“Over the many years I have been in broadcasting, there have been few individuals who remained in my heart and mind as being a solid and honest person. In addition to his professionalism in broadcasting, Ed Shadburne was one of those few with both a calming and strong personality. I had the distinct pleasure of working for and with Ed at WHAS-TV in 1970. Ed knew how to manage personnel with a steel arm covered with a velvet glove. Bottom line: Ed was not just knowledgeable in television, but was always concerned about what you, as an employee and fellow worker were dealing with in your personal life (both good and bad).  Even though I worked for Ed at WHAS-TV for only a short period of time, I know I am a better person and broadcaster because of his involvement in my personal and professional life and the life of the Kentucky Broadcasters Association. “
