As days go by it seems we lose another brother or sister that over the years we have come to admire and respect. This past Saturday, we lost Larry Netherton from Morehead. For 25 years, Larry worked for and later managed MSU’s WMKY. Larry was instrumental in preparing press releases written for radio and television.

I’ll always remember Larry’s bubbly personality. He always had something positive to say about his fellow man or woman. For years, Larry attended KBA’s fall and spring conventions (now fall conference). I recall that Larry made the trips to Washington with the KBA. Not only a supporter of public broadcasting, but Larry would also support commercial broadcasting here in Kentucky and the United States.

His personality and constant smile are firmly planted in my mind. He made everyone’s day a little brighter. Larry truly fought the good fight against cancer and finished the course and for that, we celebrate today with his family and friends the good life of Larry Netherton. We’ll miss him very much.

There will be no services at this time. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Shannon Funeral Home of Shelbyville is in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be made at shannonfuneralhome.com
