KBA Board Nomination Results and Voting Information

Nominations are closed for open seats on the KBA Board of Directors for new two-year terms beginning on January 1, 2018.

In three districts, only one candidate filed with no opposition.

In Radio District 1, Jim Freeland of Freeland Broadcasting will assume the seat currently held by Jim Moore.

Julie H. Schmidt from Kentucky Education Television was nominated unopposed and will assume the seat of Public Television Director currently held by David Brinkley.

Chris Mossman of WKYT was unopposed and will serve another term as Television Director- Lexington Market.

In Radio District 3 and Radio District 5, no one was nominated for the seat currently held by Earl Jones of the iHeartMedia, Louisville (3) or Kristin Cantrell of CapCity Radio, Frankfort (5). Therefore, as dictated in the by-laws, the KBA Chairman will make an appointment to those seats pending executive committee approval.

In Radio District 7, an election will be held between Ethan Moore of WSKV in Stanton and Chris Winkle of WCYN, Cynthiana.

An election will be held for the position of Television Director – Other Markets, between Brad Odil of WBKO-TV, Bowling Green who currently holds the seat and Bill Evans of WPSD-TV, Paducah.

For Associate Member Director, three candidates will square off in an election to succeed Nathan Butler of Orbital Media Networks, Englewood, CO who was ineligible to seek a third term. Candidates running for the Associate Member Director include: Charlie Baglan of Kentucky Afield Radio, Frankfort; Barry Williams of Broadcast & Communications System, LLC, Bowling Green; and Adam Yeomans, The Associated Press, Nashville, TN.

According to the KBA bylaws, ballots will be sent electronically (i.e. email) to the general managers of districts where there is more than one candidate. Ballots are due at the KBA office by close-of-business (5pm EDT) on Thursday, October 5, 2017.
